I am sick and tired of this crap!
I'm watching the Leaf vs Canucks game and Bates Battaglia gets a crap-assed goal by smacking Roberto Luongo in the head with his stick.
Whatever happened to goaltender interference? If I'm Luongo I hamstring Battman the next time he comes near my crease.
Oh, hold on a second... I'm a Leaf fan.
Nah, screw it. I'm a goalie first, the NHL really needs to put a stop to all the goalie running crap that is going on this year.
Not only is this not a goal, it is a 2 minute penalty for goaltender interference to Master Bates.
And these bloody commentators, "That is definitely a goal, his stick is underneath the crossbar." Not a thing about smacking the goalie in the head. This is complete Bulls*&t.
Hey, NHL, get your heads out of your asses and start to protect your goalies.

Speaking of Blind Sight
Looking back I think I know where I went wrong... I forgot to look into the future.
God (and Sidney Crosby) willing you didn't actually take my advice about picking up Garon.
LA now has him on the IR with a broken finger suffered Thursday night.
Ottawa crushes Montreal 8-3
For Crosby's sake I hope that you had Daniel Alfredsson in your lineup today. With 1 goal, 4 assists, a +3, 8 shots on goal and even 2 PIM's he had a monster day. Did I mention that his one goal also turns out to be the game winner?
In my points only league (G=1, A=1, GWG=2) he put up 7 points today. By himself. Alone.
In my opinion, that really sucks!
Mostly because I don't have him and the guy who does is only 5 points behind me in second place.
Ah well, all I can hope for is a really high scoring Atlanta Carolina game so I get a chance to keep my lead.

Hockey Day In Canada
Is this the best day of the year or what? All 6 Canadian teams play each other back to back to back. It is a smorgasbord of hockey goodness.
If you happen to own key players on any of these Canadian teams then make sure you have them active today. Games tend to be wide open and high scoring as everyone on every team is up for these games. Even the fureners (aka foreigners, you know, Americans, Europeans and other non-Canadians) get a little wired for these games.

Cloutier out, Mathieu Garon... is he worth a pickup?
Scanning the newswires I read that Dan Cloutier is likely out for the season after hip surgery today. This makes Mathieu Garon an interesting Fantasy Hockey pick-up.
For most of the season Garon has been the backup on a team looking at the playoff picture from the outside. This makes it likely that many fantasy leagues will see him available on the waiver wire.
I know he is available in my Yahoo Private League and with the way Tim Thomas is playing right now I am seriousely considering dropping Thomas as my third string keeper and replacing him with a starting Garon.
I wouldn't recommend him as a primary starter, but I can see his value over goalies like Norrena, Khabibulin, Budaj, Holmqvist etc. And once Phoenix remembers who they are he is also more valuable than their tandem of Curtis Joseph and Mikael Tellqvist.
If you have one of these guys as your second or third goaltender, I would suggest you make the swap before someone else beats you to it.

From first place to... well I'm still in first
So, I drafted a somewhat decent team this year, but I wasn't happy. So I trolled the waiver wire for the first few weeks of the season and picked up a few decent replacments.
Rod Brind'amour, Ray Whitney, Erik Cole.
It didn't occur to me until after I had picked these guys up after the first few weeks that they not only all played on the same team (the incredibly hot Carolina Hurricanes) but they all played on the same line.
Now at the start of the season this was good, the team was hot, the line was hot. Brind'Amour was leading the NHL in points.
Then Brindy gets hurt and the Canes hit a slump.
So much for my 40 point lead in my pool.
The good news, I'm still in first and the line is heating up again. Thank god (and Sidney Crosby) that I had some decent players to slot in while they were cold.

In the beginning there was nothing. God said, 'Let there be Hockey!'
And there was hockey.
Thank God (and Sidney Crosby).
This is just a place for me to rant and rave about hockey and my fantasy hopes and aspirations.
I don't really expect many readers, nor do I really care. I certainly don't expect every/any one to agree with what I say.
So, if you do read it, enjoy. If you disagree, do so, vocally. Life is boring without people to disagree with.
